LA Art Show

Attended in Los Angeles International art fair this year. Maybe me feel really strange having my work side by side with Liepke Malcolm and Jeremy Lipking and other great artists from Arcadia gallery.

Tears of the Moon

This painting is about a myth that back in the day people believed pearls were made from the tears of the moon.

In my latest work I had been always wanting to combine video and art together. With the help of the QR code. This was more of an experiment in many ways including learning how to work with After effects. In this video I created these pearl strings that flow like water since the moon has immense control over our ocean currents.

Here is some of my reference photos I used of my friend Kayla.

Ghostly Sketch

Just made this really fast sketch for the site (trying to fill in blank pages). I stumbled upon this tiny oval canvas in the art store, I just had to try it.

Soft whisper in a quiet room

Finally I finished ! One of my favourite paintings I have made. I needed a break from figurative and paint something quiet and soft, this became a very interesting light study for me. I also wanted to include some of my Russian influence in this work. Lopez Garcia was my main influence behind this painting.

New Painting: Eclipse

Just finished a new painting called "Eclipse". It is 30" by 24" inch, oil on canvas. I really wanted to practice painting with limited values and greyed down colours on the pallet. I had to resist my self from putting any harsh dark tones. My influenced came from today's photography and trying to achieve this old vintage polaroid quality look where all colours are muted and connected as a family.

I also included a process shot just to show you how I work.

Artist Alessandro Papetti

I went to a contemporary show in Bologna and came a cross a giant painting that overwhelmed me. I wrote down his name just to make sure (Alessandro Papetti). So I could spy on his work on google but sadly his images on web do not give a certain feeling which I got when viewing it live.

From far I thought this was a massive detailed painting but as I came close to it it was a beautiful mess . From the whole show Alessandro stood out the most for me because I was envious of his strokes. Click on the images for full view.
